Part of our Edinburgh Airport transfer services and vehicles guide
Quick answer
Guide dogs and other assistance dogs always travel with their owner in RTransfer cars, at no extra charge: we will never refuse them, and it is part of our licensing obligations. We are not able to carry other pets. Tell us about your assistance dog when you book so we can make sure there is room.

Guide dogs and assistance dogs
Under the Equality Act 2010, licensed taxi and private hire drivers must carry a disabled passenger's assistance dog and must not charge extra for it, unless the driver holds a council exemption certificate on medical grounds. For us, this is simple: your guide dog is welcome on every journey.
- Tell us when you book, so we send a vehicle with comfortable floor space for your dog.
- Your dog travels with you in the passenger area, usually in the footwell.
- Need help to the car? Your driver meets you in arrivals and can guide you to the vehicle. Tell us what help you would like.
Pets
Apart from guide dogs and other assistance dogs, we are not able to carry animals in our cars. If you are travelling with a pet, please make other arrangements for your journey.
Other accessibility needs
We also have access to one or two wheelchair-accessible vehicles, bookable with at least 72 hours' notice. Read our guide to wheelchair-accessible transport from Edinburgh Airport, and see how meet and greet works.
